Evaluating Your Library’s Collection
Wednesday, April 15, 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Presenters - Sharon Ufer-Lavell, Collection Services Manager, and Alexandria Eccles, Pierce County Library;
Julie Miller, Associate Dean of Libraries, Eastern Washington University, and Glenda Lammers, OCLC Global
Product Manager for Cooperative Collection Management.
Regular evaluation helps you determine whether your library's collection is meeting its established goals,
and how to allocate your budgetary resources. This workshop provides an overview of the reasons why libraries
should conduct collection evaluations, and of the tools available. Presenters from both public and academic
libraries explain the principles of collection assessment, applicable to any type of library, and demonstrate
practical tools that are readily available, accessible and yield useful results. The emphasis will be on best
practices for the process, a realistic “how we did it …and how you can too” approach to collection evaluation.
Cost per person: $50.00
